Pollachi to Thiruchendur has been running since 2015
Railway officials said that the express train from Pollachi to Tiruchendur will run from the 16th December 2021. Passenger train from Pollachi to Thiruchendur has been running since 2015 after the wide gauge railway works. The train was later extended to Palakkad.
This train was very useful for people going to the southern districts including Madurai, Nellai and Thoothukudi. Meanwhile, the Thiruchendur train was suspended last year due to corona damage. After that, various parties demanded that the train run to Thiruchendur again. The Railway Board said that after the last 10 years, a special express train will run daily from Pollachi to Thiruchendur. Southern Railway has issued a notice to this effect.
Movement from Pollachi via Dindugal, Madurai and Tirunelveli
The train will run from Thiruchendur to Pollachi from the 15th and from Pollachi to Thiruchendur from the 16th. The train will leave Pollachi at 6.40 am and reach Palani at 8.15 am, Dindigul at 9.20 am, Madurai at 10.25 am, Nellai at 1.45 pm and Thiruchendur at 3.45 pm. In the return direction, the train will leave Thiruchendur at 12.05 pm, reach Nellai at 1.30 pm, Madurai at 4.25 pm, Dindigul at 6 pm and Pollachi at 7.55 pm.
This train will have 10 compartments attached. According to railway officials, the train will run as a special express train from Pollachi to Thiruchendur and from Pollachi to Palakkad as a special passenger train.
